Acceptable use
ShopShield exists so verified shops can warn each other about real, factual incidents involving specific vehicles. To keep this trustworthy, every member agrees to the following.
First-hand only
Only file reports about vehicles your shop has personally serviced. No second-hand stories, gossip, or rumors.
Factual and specific
Describe what happened — dates, amounts, what was done to or with the vehicle. Stick to observable facts about the vehicle and the incident.
Vehicle, not driver
Reports are tied to the vehicle (license plate, make, model). Do not include the driver's name, address, race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or other personal identifiers.
Accurate plate and vehicle
Submit the license plate, state, make, and model only when you're confident they're correct. Update or retract reports if you discover an error.
No retaliation reports
Don't file reports to retaliate against price disputes or normal disagreements. ShopShield is for problem behavior — scams, theft, fraud, threats, abuse.
Moderation
Members can flag any report. Our moderators may hide, edit, or remove content and may suspend members who violate these rules.
Your responsibility and liability
You are solely responsible for every report you file. By submitting a report you confirm it is truthful, first-hand, and made in good faith. Filing false, misleading, retaliatory, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate reports is a violation of these rules and may expose you and your shop to civil liability (including claims for defamation, tortious interference, or damages) brought by the affected vehicle owner or third parties. ShopShield is a platform for shop-to-shop information sharing; it does not verify the accuracy of individual reports and is not liable for content submitted by members. You agree to indemnify and hold ShopShield harmless from any claims arising out of reports you submit.
